SBCC Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
The SBCC Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is a hub for entrepreneurial development within the South Central Coast community and is a resource for model programs for other California community college districts. The Scheinfeld Center trains global entrepreneurs using a comprehensive approach to academics, hands-on experience, and support. Participants can build their business in the classroom and shore up gaps in their entrepreneurial skillset through the Scheinfeld Center’s distinctive combination of coursework, business plan and pitch competitions, industry internships, no-cost business consulting, mentoring, networking, and post-start-up support. Created in 1937, The Port of Hueneme is owned and operated by The Oxnard Harbor District, as an independent business enterprise and political subdivision of the State of California. Patagonia employed 2,000 in 2014, with revenue over $600 million in 2013. As a certified B-Corp, the company is committed to environmental concerns with commitments to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, clean air and water, and divesting from dirty technologies to benefit the planet. Patagonia Fair Trade programs include attention to workers’ wages and an improved standard of living from a minimum wage to a living wage at factories, farms and texture mills across five continents.
The Santa Barbara County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is part of the Ventura County EDC-SBDC, the Los Angeles Regional Network, and the national Small Business Administration (SBA), providing individualized consulting and training to new and growing businesses with no-cost business counseling, coaching, non-credit classes, workshops and training sessions. The nationwide network of SBDC’s provides a comprehensive small business assistance network to represent the interests of members by promoting and informing entrepreneurs about business ownership and ways to remain competitive in a dynamic global economy.
